It is a crime in Illinois to access a computer, system or network without prior authorization. It is illegal to modify, damage, use, disclose, copy or take data and programs without authorization. It is also a crime to participate or aid in any of the following:
  • To contaminate a system with a virus or like item.
  • To use a computer scheme in a scheme or to defraud.
  • To interfere with another's computer access or use.
  • To steal information from a provider.
  • To use encryption to aid a crime.
  • To falsify e-mail source of information.
